Barat goes to Baguio (Day One)

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Its been 5 years or so since we last visited Baguio City. So this weekend, the whole family went up to Baguio and enjoyed its climate, food and scenery.

At 630am we left the house for our weekend get a way, lucky us after an hour of travel our aircon died down and we can’t do anything but bare with the scourging heat and go on with our trip.

Our daughter can no longer take the heat and she started to be irritable, so we transfered her to the other car — where they enjoyed their aircon while we are starting our early penitence for the holy week. Hay, how lucky can we get?!

On our way to Baguio, we payed Our Lady of Manaog a visit.

Then we went straight to Baguio where we stayed in a transient home. The rent is way cheaper compared to hotel rates. The place we got was pretty spacious. It was able to accomodate all of us — 12 adults, 2 kids, 1 toddler & 1 baby. It has 4 rooms, sala, dining area, 2 toilet and bath with heater, kitchen and garage. We only paid Php 5,000 for 2 days. Not bad huh!?

Fashionable babies…

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Babies are so cute and adorable. Lucky us, our first born is a baby girl. She’s like our barbie doll, we love dressing her up and buying her cute overalls.

Yesterday, we visited one of our secret store for our princess’ cool and nice stuffs. It’s not actually a store because it’s only a stock room located at the back of a —- house in Bel Air, Makati.

But don’t under estimate this place for it’s well organized, air conditioned, very far from the looks of a “bodega” and most of all so many baby stuff! All original, minimal or no damages at all, and a one stop shop for all your baby needs when in comes to clothing. This is what we call “jackpot” or simply a haven for parents who only wants the best for their babies.

You might be wondering what are the stuff you can find in here. They have receiving blankets, bibs, mittens, booties, socks, burp pads, wash cloths, frog suits, overalls, shirt & shorts, trainor undies, bonnets and gift sets. Items here are mostly carters, bright future and wee.

We want ICE Cream!!!

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Since early last week, the sun shines so bright and the heat is on. It’s like telling all of us to rush to the nearest beach and take a plunge. But for most of us, taking a vacation and enjoying the beach (nature’s best gift to us during summer :P) isn’t as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Oh well, instead of frowning we found ourselves digging into a tub of ice cream. Oh soo refreshing!

What’s even rewarding is that we discovered that our favorite local brand, Fruits in Ice Cream (FIC), added new flavors to their list. These we have to try for the next couple of days, weeks, or even months!

For those who haven’t tried FIC, we recommend you try their Pistachio – this is one of their bestsellers, generous amount of pistachio nuts which reminds us of Coney Islands’ pistachio ice cream, Tsokonut and Green Tea.

Oooops, we almost forgot! Diabetics and diet conscious people can also enjoy their yummy treats coz they have a sugar-free line called FIC lite. We tried their mixed berries and it’s good.

Of course, this post wouldn’t be an official barat entry if we don’t have tipid tips for you guys! We don’t buy our FIC ice cream from supermarkets or malls but instead we get it from their home outlets whose price is much lower. :P

You may check there Price List for reference.

Here’s the contact info of our favorite outlet:

Late lunch at Causeway

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Chinese food is one of our comfort foods and when we think of late lunch, we think of Causeway restaurant located at Congressional Avenue in Quezon City.

Ever wonder why this particular branch? Because this is the only branch that we know that offers Dim sum discounts from 230pm to 530pm. All Dim sums in the push cart are priced php38/order.

But for hakaw lovers, (sorry guys) this isn’t included in the promo. But never the less, our favorite siomai, chicken feet, spareribs — to name a few — are all included!

To complete our meal, we often order yang chow fried rice (php 150) but when we are in total barat mode plain rice will do. Don’t forget to ask for your tasty plain soup and to request for a pot of hot tea… it’s free don’t worry :P
