Weekend at Tagaytay Ü (Part 2)

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

So come October 10th, we woke up at 430 am to prepare. By 530 am, we hit the road.

When we entered SLEX the sky was still cloudy and the sun seemed hiding. So we stopped at Petron SLEX for tire check, ice cubes and a quick morning snack… Yup, quick snack not breakfast! hehehe since we want to eat breakfast at Tagaytay.

Our PJ is heavily tinted and we were so confused with the road signs of SLEX we missed Sta. Rosa exit. It’s a good thing that there’s a new exit called Greenfield, so we tried it and we landed at Paseo (A commercial complex at Sta. Rosa that houses a lot of Outlet stores).

By this time,  it was raining heavily.

When we reached Tagaytay, we were supposed to eat breakfast at Bag of beans — since we got a lot of good reviews — but we needed to go down the slippery stairs to get to the dining area.  So we decided to look for another cafe… and we saw their menu and breakfast sets are priced about Php 300 per person! (yikes… too expensive for breakfast :P ) … This lead us to RSM.

Still breakfast meals are priced at an average of Php 180… Oh well, this is more reasonable than the Php 300 per plate eh? plus they have a very nice view of the Taal Volcano. So our verdict? Pwede na! hehehe

(Beef Tapa – too salty hehehe :P )

After breakfast we tried our luck to go to Paradizoo despite the rainy morning.

When we reached the zoo, the sun was up and we were recommended to use rubber slippers since it’s muddy. The golf cart was being occupied by the students who were  having their educational trip so we had to walk.

They have a couple of animals, a small bee farm, a flower farm and a very friendly staff who toured us around the Zoo.  The entrance fee was Php 190 for adults and free for our 2 year old.

Honestly, it was nothing spectacular but our baby had soooo much fun talking with the goats.  Since she had fun, well we guess it’s worth the trip. :P

After Paradizoo, we have no choice but to go directly to our hotel and have an early check-in since the it was a rainy and super foggy morning.

T-house was very accomodating and allowed us to do an early check-in. Here are some pictures of our room:

We were supposed to eat lunch at Hawaiian Bar-b-que but were too lazy to move around since the floors were wet. So we decided to eat lunch in the hotel’s restaurant.

After lunch, we had our siesta and decided to eat dinner around 630pm. We went to La Boutique (Hawaiian Bar-b-que) for dinner and had dessert at Cafe Breton in Cliffhouse.

The next day, after check-out. We bought ube and ube macapuno (it was our first time to try this product and we loved it). Then we had lunch at Sancturio and beef shopping at Mahogany.

Since it was only 2pm and the temperature in Tagaytay was hot and just like Manila, we decided to head home and go to Paseo in Sta. Rosa for some shopping.

How do we rate our weekend roadtrip? A certified stress buster but not a certified Barat trip! hehehe since we did not look for Barat places this time but pure indulgence on whatever we want! hehehe

Weekend at Tagaytay Ü (Part 1)

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

It’s our 3rd year wedding anniversary last October 9th. So we decided to go to tagaytay to unwind and celebrate. Ü

Since we needed to bring mom to the Airport on October 9th, we scheduled our road trip on October 10th to 11th… the only problem was our PJ ends in “0″ (in Manila, Philippines we have color coding scheme – vehicles ending in 9 or 0 will not be allowed to go out from 7am-7pm). So we left early morning to avoid the coding. Here’s our original itinerary:

October 10th

5:30 am – leave the house
6:00 am – Stop over at Petron South Super Highway for tire check and buy ice
7-7:30 am – reach Tagaytay and look for a local restaurant to eat breakfast
9:00 am – go to Paradizoo
12:00 nn – Lunch at Hawaiian Bar-b-que at La Boutique
2:00 pm – Check-in at the T-House
7:00 pm – Dinner at Greek Tavern and dessert after at any cafe in tagaytay

October 11th

Buy Ube at Good Sheperd after check-out
Lunch at Sanctuario and eat our favorite Bulalo Pasta and Smoked Bangus Pasta
Buy Beef at Mahogany Market
Buy Formosa Pineapples and Fresh Milk and Milk Candy at Moo’s
Stop over at Paseo Sta. Rosa

… But that remained a plan and the weather was rainy when we reached Tagaytay so we had a different itinerary… :)

La Luz Beach Resort at Laiya, Batangas

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

It’s our first time to go to Laiya, Batangas to enjoy the beach and nature trip :) last May 1, 2008

At first, we were trying to book at Palm Beach Resort but since we just planned the trip 3 days before our preferred date, it’s already fully booked. So, our friend called up several resorts in the area to check for available accomodations. Luckily, we were able to get 1 premier room at La Luz.

Upon reaching the resort, we were very happy with how the receptionists welcomed us. They were very accomodating and courteous. We immediately fell in love with the place. They have a very cozy place. Very clean and relaxing cabanas and a row of beach parasols and wooden beach chairs (you could use these free of charge, WOW!).

They have a couple of beach activities to enjoy — kayak, snorkling, beach volleyball, bon fire at night, board games, and our well loved body massage. :) Everything is priced affordably.

We also like the buffet meals that they offer. It is not gourmet but not canteen food… we could say that your Php 950 (lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner and breakfast) is really “sulit” and can be enjoyed by a certified barat! :P We were super “busog” all the time. Each meal consists of pork, chicken, vegetable and fish dish — plus dessert and juice drink.

So if ever you plan to go to Laiya, Batangas try La Luz. :)

divisoria, a barat’s paradise!

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Divisoria is always our best bet for cheap but great finds… may it be for your kid’s birthday party favor, supplies in your office, corporate giveaways or whatever it is that you need … most likely you can find it in our home sweet “divilandia”!

Yup, we call it “divilandia”!… There’s a forum that many budget conscious mommies shares there ideas and great finds for home needs and baby stuff. They call divisoria … “divilandia” and now, we call it that way since we consider it a shopper’s paradise.

Last tuesday, August 21, 2007, we went to divilandia to scout for party favors for Julienne’s upcoming birthday party, some supplies for the office and for possible corporate giveaways this yuletide season.

You wouldn’t believe what we bought, how much we spent and what’s on our list for our next visit. We’ll post another entry for the party favors that we bought which only cost us 1,200 for everything (stationary sets, tumblers, stickers, coloring books, puzzles, bags, watches and “strawberry shortcake”-like hats)

Barat tips:

1. Don’t wear your jewelries when you go there. Jeans, shirt and flip-flops/sneakers would be the best attire plus a belt bag :P (this is the reason why one of the sales lady thought that i’m a trader hehehe)

2. Visit divi on a weekday and the day after the holiday (normally tuesday) would be the best timing, since everybody’s excited to go back to the office after a long weekend. :)

3. Don’t limit yourself to tutuban and 168. If you think, prices here are oh sooo cheap, wait until you visit the new divisoria mall and the streets of divisoria. You wouldn’t believe the price!

4. Buy in wholesale, this only refers to 6 pcs.

5. Make a list or know what are the items you would buy, since you’ll be lured with the wide selection of items in divilandia.

6. Be prepared to carry your purchases, unless you bring your alalay with you or hire some “tambays” to carry it for you. You may also hire a pedicab to drive you to the parking area if you’re already tired with all the shopping :)

7. You may park at 168 or tutuban mall.

We hope you’ll have an enjoyable visit at our divilandia!:)
